avocado & bravado 2.0 : a new beginning

Guys, I done got hacked. Yes, I know I’m stupid. One of the unfortunate side effects of getting a full time grown-up job last April was that I more or less abandoned my food blog. Once I no longer had an abundance of free time to cook gourmet meals several hours a day, updating my blog on a regular basis became overwhelming. When I abandoned my blog, I stopped updating WordPress and my many plugins – which left my site vulnerable to an attack.

And it was attacked.

For awhile there, I thought I had lost everything (18 months and 150+ recipes). Many tears were shed. Luckily, I was able to retrieve all my posts and photos, but I still decided to start my blog anew. I’ve wanted to return to blogging for several months now, but I no longer have the desire to blog exclusively about food. avocadobravado.net 2.0 will be more of a personal blog, but yes, there still will be food. I’ll repost my favorite recipes in the coming weeks, for sure. Admittedly, there were some dudes in the old blog – and I’d much prefer to highlight my best recipes on the internets.

Hope to see you around.

  1. Wowzas – I didn’t know one could get hacked through WordPress. No good.. although I back-up my blog every month just to be safe.. because, yeah, if I lost everything. I would cry, too.

Can’t wait to see what’s been shaking over the past few months. :)

Woohoo, Janet! I wasn’t sure if my blog was still showing up in RSS feeds again, I hadn’t bothered to smooth out that. Unfortunately, WordPress is particularly vulnerable to attacks. I was able to find all my old posts in my database and my photos were in my ftp, so luckily I still have everything. After a year (!) away though, I feel it’s best to start fresh.

Looking forward to reposting old and new favorites. Thanks for stopping by, Janet! I was hoping you hadn’t unsubscribed from my blog. :)

  3. I’m so glad you’re back, Rose! I had just gotten into reading your blog when you disappeared but I’ve kept my RSS subscription just in case!

I definitely understand the desire to reboot. I think I might end up doing the same thing with my own blog.

Welcome back, and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us! By the way, I really like the new look. :-D
